SURUD FOOTBALL CLUB

Football has always been part of life in many tribal villages of Jharkhand. Children play wherever they find space-in school grounds, village commons, harvested fields, or along dusty roads.
Talent is never in short supply. What has often been missing are opportunities, good coaching, and a clear pathway to grow , not just in the game but beyond.
Surud Football Club (SFC) was started in 2021 to bridge that gap.
Today, the club brings together more than 300 children and young people from villages across Ranchi and Khunti districts. Some come because they love football. Some come because their friends play. Some arrive shy and unsure of themselves. What keeps them coming back is that the club becomes a place where they are challenged, encouraged, and supported.

Our Approach to Inclusion
At Surud FC, inclusion is a part of how children and youth play, get trained , and grow together.
Boys and Girls Playing Together
From the beginning, Surud FC has trained boys and girls together. Our friendly and local matches are also played with mixed teams.
On the football field, players learn to value each other for their effort, ability, teamwork, and commitment, not because they are boys or girls.
Playing together helps children build trust, respect each other’s strengths, and experience equality as part of everyday teamwork.
Dialogue & Support
Football brings children together, but conversations help them understand each other better.
We conduct regular sessions with players and coaches on gender, respect, equality, relationships, and safety.
We also provide counseling support to girls as they deal with challenges that may affect their participation in sports and everyday life.
We recognise that girls may have specific needs while participating in sports.
Surud FC pays attention to areas such as nutrition, menstrual health, and overall well-being so that girls can continue playing, training, and participating fully in the club.

How Players Grow at Surud FC
From the First Kick to Organized Football...
It starts in the village.
Every player begins in a village or panchayat team and trains regularly under a local volunteer coach. These coaches come from the same communities. They have played football beyond the village level and understand both the game and the children they coach.
We keep track of progress.
As players continue training, coaches regularly assess their football skills using a simple scorecard. The scorecard helps players understand what they are doing well and what they need to work on next.
Some players choose to go further.
Players who want to compete at higher levels are registered through the AIFF Club Registration System (CRS) and receive an AIFF Player ID. This allows them to participate in recognised leagues, tournaments, and trials. They also receive additional coaching from certified coaches and opportunities to compete outside their villages.
The journey comes full circle.
Many of our older players now coach younger children, referee matches, organise local tournaments, and help run the club. That is how Surud FC grows—from one generation of players to the next.
Whether a child or a youth plays for the love of the game or dreams of playing professionally, we strive to ensure that they get the opportunity to keep playing, keep improving, and, if they want to, take football further.
